Intel moves to on-chip PCIe as Tunnel Creek takes off

Well, Intel's launch of Tunnel Creek is very interesting for the embedded market. A new 3W system on chip based around the Atom core with various useful peripherals, ther are already several designs being based around it.
The key aspect is that, for the first time, it will let other companies create PCI Express-compliant devices that directly connect to the chip, which offers new flexibility for embedded applications. Instead of the Front Side Bus (FSB) the core connects via PCI Express to a partner hub chip (see chip left).
