Performance boost for industrial DDR4 memory

By Nick Flaherty

Innodisk has launched the first embedded DDR4 2666 DRAM memories.

Available in a variety of form factors, the 1.2V DDR4 2666-series provides 2666MTransactions/s for automation, surveillance and network applications, up 11% on the previous 2400 series. The new modules fully support the newly released Intel Xeon 'Purley' platform. This is aimed at IoT and cloud-based computing, as well as future challenges of Big Data and artificial intelligence.

Even though the DDR4 2666-series is intended for server use, the performance makes it a strong contender for many other vertical markets. It can meet the demands of Industry 4.0, where automation applications must deliver quick and reliable data transfer rates; surveillance, which relies on high-speed, on-the-spot data analytics; or network applications, where data integrity is critical.
The series is also JEDEC compliant and the 1.2V operation reduces power consumption by 20% compared to the previous generation DDR3 modules.

The  DDR4 2666 module series are available in 2GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities and form factors include UDIMM, MINI DIMM and SODIMM with the option of Very Low-profile (VLP) for space-constrained applications.
